Re: Does renting makes sense for now?
And, in my humble opinion, it shall remain in talks, amit_pearl2. Note that the RE downtrurn that we saw earlier was due to great disparity in RE prizes in Bangalore and the rest of the Metros in India. But over the last few years, the RE across India has had a steady upturn and prices are more or l...

Re: Construction Cost Details
Hi Abhinkoi, The cost of construction is a very subjective topic. Currently, most of the contractors propose a range between Rs.1300 and Rs.2000 psft. The total built-up area times this basic cost would be a rough ball park figure for the basic construction. Mind you, this does not include costs lik...

Re: Water facility in Anjanapura
Would it be safe to assume that other BDA and BDA approved layouts (like JP nagar 8th/9th phase, Royal county, Lakeview etc) surrounding Anjanapura would also be covered under this scheme? Or is it just restricted to Anjanapura? @ PlotGuy: you're right. Its not there until its really there :-). Let'...

Re: Construction Cost
Thanks a lot, blrsiteseeker. Very useful information. You're absolutely right in saying that it's easy to get carried away and "adjust" for more than budgeted fittings/fixtures, but in the end they all add up to a huge total. Thanks again and wish you a great life in your new home.

Re: Construction Cost
Hello blrsiteseeker, If I may ask, where all did you have to go for variations from what the contractor proposed in Rs1300? Flooring (better tiles/granite), electrical and bathroom fittings etc. Usually, as per my current understanding, most of the contractors take vitrified tiles worth about Rs 50 ...

Any Views On Greenfield Gardens Telecom Layout
Hi, Does anyone know how Greenfield Gardens layout from Telecom Employee's Co. Op. society is shaping up? This is in Devanahalli, about 4-5 KM (on the left) from the ITC factory. Apparently, they have 3 phases in this project. Phases 1 and 2 seem to be complete and 3 is in progress in terms of sites...

Re: Question on House Construction - Inital Stage
Hi Mahesh, I too am in the planning phase of my house construction and have met a few architects in this regard. My comments inline - 1) Is Architect service is required or can I go with civil engineer. If I go for Architect what are the advantages and disadvantages? => You can always go for a civil...

Plan Approval + Road Cutting Charges Clubbed Together
Hi, I plan to start construction of my duplex house on a 30x40 site soon. Met an architect today in this regard. He informed that from 2 weeks now, BDA is collecting road cutting charges along with the plan approval charge (this was done separately earlier). Anyone has been a "Victim" of this change...

Re: Current rate in JP Nagar 9th phase 2nd block
Hello Lavanya, I bought my site about 11 months back (@ 2100/sq.ft). I just checked a couple of weeks back and got to know that the rates differ within 8th phase 2nd block itself. For e.g. some sites, that have proximity to Royal county may be available at around 2600 to 2850 /sq.ft. The ones that a...
