Re: 3~ 4 inch thick base for wardrobes

There is no right or wrong answer. Here's what we did: 1. For kitchen where there is 100% certainty that wardrobes/cabinets would be done, granite flooring was left off. This area was finished with concrete with level cement finishing. Cabinet boxes were done by carpenter over that. 2. For bedrooms ...

I finally bought KOHINOOR White Onix from Maruthi Ceramics @73 final price. This is for bedrooms only. For halls and all other areas I bought Gangsaw granite slabs. For RAK the best price you can get is from South India Ceramics. For Simpolo/Kohinoor/Somany Maruthi Ceramics, Banaswadi For Bathroom t...

Re: rock excavation during foundation

We got this done for our site too. The rock was not just soft for us.

The compressor costs around 3500 per day for hire. You can take lump sum quote from them. Hiring them for daily basis would be disastrous as they can take you for a ride!

Re: Plumbing help - Flush valve or concealed cistern

No ledge wall. We have 8" concrete block walls and had plumber chip the walls and fit it into the wall. Of course he charged more for that

Re: Plumbing help - Flush valve or concealed cistern

We have gone with concealed tank in all bathrooms. If flush valve is used, I believe a separate 1.5inch pipe needs to be run all the way from top for this. So more plumbling lines. Costwise concealed tank will be higher but you can look at Gebrit Kombifix Alpha which we bought for about 7.5k or so. ...

Re: Granite Flooring cost per sft

If you go with cutter size (3ftx9ft) slabs, the cost per sft of Granite will be 80-110. On top of that another 70-80/sft for laying including materials.

If you go with Gangsaw size(6ftx10ft) slabs, cost per sft of slabs will be almost 190-240. Another 70-80/sft for laying including materials.

Re: Shortage of TamilNadu Sand

Venky, For first two roofs we got Kollegala sand and that stopped back in August or so. My contractor says that supply has not resumed at all after that. Seems like Karnataka Govt doesn't want to do anything here In fact Kollegala sand is better than Trichy sand for concrete work due to its roughnes...
