Set top box behind wooden doors

Post by prabhu422p »

In my TV unit set top box is behind wooden doors and unable to operate remote control if these wooden doors are closed. Can some one in the forum used any device(IR extender etc) to operate remote control with wooden doors being closed.

Thanks

IR will not penetrate through Solid Blocks like wall, wood, metals...etc.
if you use any IR/RF extender, power source for that unit and additional wiring
is necessary to reach signal goes inside the Wooden enclosure.

Instead, you can provide a small glass or Acrylic decorative window (circular or rectangular)
to the wooden enclosure where the Set Top Box Front Panel faces. That solves your problem.

There are some DTH operators who provide radio frequency remote which should work in the absence of line-of-sight between the remote control and set-top box. (e.g. http://www.videocond2h.com/WSC/hd_digit ... rding.aspx)

You could use an IR repeater. There are some use USB for power supply.
