Your concern is very valid. Usually, they ask for Sale deed, property tax paid reciept, EC, RoR etc and a id proof.
I am surprised they did not ask you all these.
You might want to check with them direclty, if this is the standard process they follow.

Khata extract is a document which is nothing but a certified copy of khata and contains minimum details about the khata. Just about anyone can apply and get a khata extract for anyone else property. For this you need to know the khata number and person name who is the khatedar of the property. Both these information is available in property tax paid receipt, so this is enough to get you the khata extract.
Khata extract helps other people like buyer of a property to check the genuineness of the property paper (khata).
This is same as Driving License extract or vehicle extract.
We can also get a certified copy of sale deed of any other property provided we know the minimum information about the property like buyer/seller name, sale deed number and date. This info is required only to help in search and find the exact set of papers/ soft copies easily.
