Kota stone for flooring anybody?

anybody in forum used kota stone for flooring interiors,

Pros
- Cost, it's cheap
- Takes good polish.. 7 coats. we can get a mirror finish
- locally available

Its is considered - 'low end' - is what I have heard - usually used for outside stairs and platforms.
Not sure about the technicalities.

Cons:
1. Overall appearance will be a dull finish.
2. Getting uniform grains/colour is a challenge if you are looking for bigger living area.
3. Very soft in nature.

How about this for elevation purposes ? What is the cost per sq ft ?

sqft cost is around 55rs/sqft for 2x2 slab,

yes it is seems low end, may be because it's cheap. i have seen photos where it been used by famed architects (Mistry's, good earth, chitra Vishawanath) etc. when i asked the dealer his view is KOTA get or take almost mirror like finish

i was impressed after reading this article by S varanasi, what i am contemplating whether to go or not.
it's cheap,
looks good when polished,
soothing color,
laying cost is less

As you guys observed we do cover-up most of living area with furniture/carpet and whatever we spend on Italian/expensive granite will be hidden unless we have large living area which is furnished sparsely. just my thought of course we can spend on much more expensive materials.

Hi,
Kota stone has flakes problem and the shade of slab is very unpredictable till you polish.you can use it in flooring with combination of similar category material like exposed brick,rough textures,unfinished wooden surfaces,athagudi tiles etc...
You cannot compare a Italian marble with Kota .There should be certain language maintained in selection of material to maintain the harmony/concept/aesthetics of interiors or exteriors spaces.

for my house we have used Cement stabilized mud blcoks (60% of area will be plastered), plan to use this in first floor family room where i have used Hourdi blocks for roof. yeah still contemplating whether to go for KOTA+lined with Jaisalmer gold.. or use full JaisalmerTeak texture flooring

one more help , are KOTA stones easily take on scratches?, how often we need to get them polished to get the glass finish back

Hi guys
Kota stone is easy to polish at the same time easy to loose the polish. Unlike granite that cannot be polished on site due to its hardness and once polished it remains for longer time.
Kota stone is good option to go with exposed brick (csmb ) concepts.
