hi,

i suggest to you to freeze basic requirement items and activities.

Material-- 1.solid block 8" or 6" ( 4" not advisable since it may not be strong)
2. precast walls

height - 4 feet or 5 feet.

other items-including gate with basic price or design.

foundation- Size stone or solid block ( for temporary normally people go with 3 course of solid block to save cost ) but how ever if we go with SSM while constructing the house same foundation can be used which will save cost in future..

any way you can have word with Mr.xxxxxxxxx.xxxxxxxx and get some multiple quote.

Hi ,You need to share knowledge before referring some one else

Hi,

Thanks everyone for your answers. We are looking at building about a simple 3ft high wall either with cement bricks or stone. We don't want to plaster or put a gate. The plot size is 30x51. A rough estimate of how much this should cost will be really helpful when talking to contractors.

Here are some pictures of what is on our mind:

Hi,
For a temp SSM foundation wall like the one in attached pics would cost 95 to 110 per cft .
Approx calculation
162 rft X 1.5'x4' = 975 cft approx.
975 cft x 110 = 107250 /-
PCC on top of SSM would cost approx 10k extra

The pricing will vary based on site location ,since the contractor need to mobilize water and other stuff for small work so he might charge you more

Hi,
I have got my house constructed using a reliable trust worthy contractor, basically he is not a engineer but has lots of experience and he has worked under several Engineers some of them from IISc as well. I could get my house built well under his labors. If you guys are still searching for you can reach him on +91 8197827659 or +91 9342142359

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your replies. I have spoken to 3 contractors and they are not consistent in the approach. They start with something simple (costing around 50K) and gradually increased scope to a full-fledged foundation (and increased cost to 1.7L). Given the fact that this is for temporary purpose, I'm more inclined to go for barbed-wire fencing. One of the contractors was willing to do it, but his estimate of 60K seems highly bloated. Here is the break-down he gave me:

16 stone pillars (spaced at 10 feet each) x Rs.700 = 11200
3 lines of barbed wire = 5000
Labour charges for digging & planting pillars and putting the barbed wire = 10000
4 bags of cement = 1600
Sand = 2000
Small-size Jaali stone
Laour for cement work
Finally, he rounded this to 60K (i don't get how 29800 gets rounded to 60K :)
He told me that the the pits will be dug wide enough to place concrete at the bottom and surrounding the pillar. Is this the usual way? If so, does the amount of cement, sand etc mentioned above make sense?

Finally, I would be very thankful if you can provide contact info of a contractor who does this work. Also, if you have got fencing done for your plot, it would be great if you can share the details of the price, time and any useful tips.

Thanks

I Recently constructed fencing of my plot(30X40) with stone pillars in south bangalore here are the details

6ft Stone Pillars 16 nos
5 lines barbed wires
cement with jalli stone only around the pillars not too much in depth
4 labours

It costed me around 13K

Work was nicely done started around 11:30 AM and completed at 6:00 PM

Each stone pillar cost around 200/- to 250/- and requires 2 bags of cement

If the purpose is to just to mark the boundary then you can go for this as it comes for cheap. You can also go for more cement work from the bottom of the pillar and it may cost little bit more , but you contractor estimaiton looks highly inflated.

Once you plan to construct the house then those pillar may be/not be used.
