Doors- buying readymade versus carpenter

Post by philiptm »

Dear members,

Any advice or suggestions are welcome, whether buying doors from shops or custom-making is the better option.

Any recommendations in North Bangalore are also welcome - our site is in Banaswadi.

Many thanks.

Dear Philips

Generally location is not a constraint as ready to use doors will be door delivered or the carpenter can work at any corner of the city.
meanwhile, You need to Provide more details to get a precise answer like

1. Are you looking for Main Door or for other areas or for all applications?

2. what is your budget range?

3. are you looking for Fancy/Antique one or a cost effect one ?

4. Have sufficient time for to want for a carpenter to prepare the Custom door or you have time constraint.....etc.?

5. your preference type of wood.

Thank you msn1270 and Ganesh for your replies...

I have 15 doors in all including 2 main doors.

As of now, am considering teak (burma) for main doors. Not sure even at 8200/cft we are getting original burma.

Quote i have is 34500/- Polishing is another 1500/-

For burma border i have 20,000/- per door

Ghana - 11500/-

For bathroom veneer door - 4700/ door.

These are 7* 3 standard doors with simple 4 or 6 panels. No carvings.

Please let me know what is your opinion on these rates.
