My painter has completed the teak wood/veneer polishing work using only cotton and not spray. Now he is saying PU spray has to be done on the same to safeguard the polish. Since I am not not familiar with this, could you suggest whether the PU spray is needed and what would happen if the same not done.

What is standard labour only for PU spray?.

Thanks and Regards,

Hi Selva
For polishing a solid wood door with not much carving will be 25-30/- per sft .Wheather its PU or melamine or water based PU its up to your choice, labour cost remains same unless workmanship varies.

Hi folks,

How is calculation done for polish ?
For doors its standard in sft* 2.5 for two sides.

How does it work for window with glass.

Let's say I have a window of 8*5
Which has fixed glass of 4*5
And a glass in shutter of 3*4

Should it be 40-20-12
Or should be 40*2.5 ??

Hi Rituraj
For door polishing including frame will be actual sft X 2.5 times
For window shutters (if its plain glass without sashes )and frame is also same ( actual sft X 2.5 times ) , in case of sashes price can go up depending up on complexity and time taken for work.

Irrespective of fixed glass or open able shutter price remains same due to intricacy of work.

Thank you sir.
I dont have any sashes in my window, and its just clear glass with shutter frame.

Enclosing a pic for reference:

Actual size (frame to frame): 8*7 = 56 sqft * 2.5 = 140
Glass sizes: 4 piece each ( 1'6''*3'6'') (1'6''*2*4'') = 100

So actual size charged should be 40 right.
Because my contractor is arguing that glass will not be minus.

Hi Rituraj
Unfortunately glass size is not deducted because they have extra works of cleaning glass, fixing and removing masking tape, filling the glass beading gap with powder etc are time consuming works .
These are standard practice followed as per IS code .

Rituraj,

if you calculate the total exposed wood surface , ie the area to be polished(polish surface of frame + polish surface of shutter), you will find that it is closer to opening sqft. it is not really a rip off . The glass area is not discounted. as explained above there is additional work that needs to be taken care.
give me the width of the shutter stile ,rail , mullion \ thickness and frame dimensions(5x3 or 6x4 etc) , rebate width\depth . I can show you an illustration , and you can judge what factor is for actual work and for additional effort.
