Is it common to pay interior designers for design cost upfront and then get the quote based on materials we choose etc? One designer I narrowed is quoting this way. My dilemma is I would lose the design cost if i dont go with him based on his quotes.
also any reliable/quality interior designers in north bangalore, do provide reference

Design Cost & Execution cost are 2 separate things.
You can pay him the design cost and get the material break up details.
Simultaneously using the same design inputs, you can also take quotes from other carpenters/modular interior service providers also.
Later you can decide whom to reward the contract. Its not mandatory that you need to take quotes only with the designer suggested carpenter.
