Interior design

Post by milangadakari »

Which is more feasible, interior design or carpenter work? Can carpenter give the same finish as interior designer.

What are the the best brands of modular kitchen accessories?

Dear Milan

Here is my opinion.

1. Cost wise not much difference between the manual carpentry work and the Interior design made using automated machines.
Based on the design & material used, you may not find the difference of more than 10% difference. But this difference will get
compensated in terms of Short lead time, Quality of work & good finishing you get it. Hence in terms of Finishing, Quality, Look
and Feel & Durability wise, Interior design work is superior than the manual carpentry.

2. Manual Carpentry uses 19 mm thick ply for manual work which is expensive than the 16 mm ply used by the machines with the later option.
But as the manual carpentry uses higher thickness, items will be heavier and they have to use heavy duty accessories like hinges & other
accessories for doors, which leads to be costlier. As an end user for you, Strength & durability is same with both the options.

3. Lead time to finish, Manual carpentry work needs at least 6-8 weeks for a std 2 BHK House and they block all other works for you, as they occupy
your space with raw materials and working area for this whole period. But once you finalize the design & requirement, interior design service
provider can finish your work within 2 weeks & they need your space for only 3-4 days actually, as nearly 80% of the work they do outside and you
can go ahead with the rest of the work at your site in this period.

4. Laminate bonding with manual carpentry may not be uniform, and many times leads to issues at a later period. But in terms of
laminate bonding, later options is far more reliable.

5. Carpenters Also use your electricity(Commercial tariff, which you pay) for their work and also for their daily needs(bathing, Cooking...etc) as
most of the time, they stay at your site in this period. This is an overhead for you.

6. Many times carpenters damages your flooring, scratches the walls...etc during their work at your place. This can be avoided
with the later option.

In general, accessories used for kitchen are SS304 grade Hettich, Hafele, Ebco...etc. There are many local brands also available, which is cost effective than the above mentioned brands.
