Go for FE550D or FE 415 grade steel whatever yoir structural engineer has assumed in design.
Ask for the dealer for material sheet data and compare with established brands like Tata or Jindal from their websites.

Hi ,
Bhuwalka steel as a brand they are consistent in the quality. While buying any steel few things to check for.

1. Rod thickness should be consistent when checked in different bundles of same thickness
2. Steel should be made out of virgin iron ore - re-rolled is not suitable for construction
3. Steel grade Fe550d, Fe500, Fe500d etc, you need to choose based on the structural engineer design
4. Standard weight of quality TMT steel as follows + 5-7% Tolerance
8mm (1 Bundle) 10 47 Kg
10mm (1 Bundle) 7 53 Kg
12mm (1 Bundle) 5 53.4 Kg
16mm (1 Bundle) 3 56.88 Kg

5. Look for the cross section of the steel, it should look uniform in the composition, this need little trained eye to understand.

When you buy directly from their factory on old madras road, you will need to order minimum quantity. You may need to pay in advance by bank transfer, otherwise you will need to pay in cash only. You can use the transport people there with their fixed charges or take your own truck. Quantity measurement will be perfect as they will weight the truck before and after loading. Only thing is the bartender was complaining that the steel is little hard to bend. Then I shifted to Indus.
