Chained Staircase

Yes Ankit, same thing happened to me.. Initially while selecting the contractor, I was told that it would cost 700 per step. Later, a couple of days before he had to start staircase work, I was asked to pay 1200 per step. The reason I got was that the centering and barbending guys are asking more.
So I arrogantly stopped the construction work for arnd 3 days and told them I dont need chained stairs. Thats when he started to negotiate.Then I spoke to Centering and barbending guys and asked them the split up for the amount he is asking.
Rates for silver wood that they use for centering is very less and they reuse the material. New wood for the entire staircase costs abt 4000 Rs for 20 steps. So ideally these guys should be asking 4000 + Labour charges for 1 day. But these guys are looting.
