Hi DreamHouse,
Thanks for sharing your experience, your post highlights how one can be
independent and still be able to get the work done.
I built my existing house in 2007 under my fathers supersvision, though we did it under
full contract, i faced similar issues and had to visit various places to buy
electrical, plumbing and granite tiles.
My new plot is on the opposite road and plan to construct it next year. so, i request
you to write a blog on your experince. One of the member(arjun) has written blog
and it is very useful.

While researching, I started learning Revitt for structural analysis, 3dmax for interiors.
These are great tool but requires dedicated time to learn. Though they can provide lot
of details on consturction, on field experience is invaluable.
I may need your help, so, pls PM your contact details.

Dear friends,
I would like to know how should we make the payments to Builder while constructing a house.
1) Should we have an agreement stating from Day 1- Day 30 this much work has to be completed and this much payment has to be made. What will happen if there is slippage .
2) Do we say 20% of payment for Foundation,30% till roofing . 50% when palstering starts .Will a contract be made on this basis and how should owner keep track of all these things. Please share your experiences this will help all to controll there finances properly.
Kindly Suggest

HI all
Can sombody post an agreement for Labour contract which contains the various clauses like stages of payment, penalties (if any), legal action in the event of failure on the respective parties, inclusions and exclusion etc.

payment should be stagewise, that is like foundation, GND flr RCC etc.,
Payment should be made only for the work done which includes contractor submitting all bills and breakups
This is becuase final stages finishing work takes lot of money and if you have already paid this in advance, you will lose control over quality and progress speed

Hi All,
I am starting construction soon. I have come up with a sketch on a piece of paper. I would like to get this plan converted to a real one by a engineer? So should i take this sketch to the guys with shops next to BDA office for further work or should i involve a structural engineer first?
Thank You!
