In my ongoing home construction, I see spans of around 22ft. But the structual drawing is suggesting only 18inch beam depth - 6inch inside slab, 12inch outside of slab. I'm trying to understand is this enough? Any references in this aspect will be helpful...

I saw several posts/articles showing English bond is better. But I've two questions:

1. Is this applicable even for framed structure - non-load bearing walls? Is that useful at all?
2. I see regularly bricks are placed horizontally and just avoid vertical alignment, what is this brick bond ...
