vaastu on room dimensions

Post by sk1976 »

Hi,
I am in the process of deciding on room locations in my house and I hear from people really confusing things on how the rooms should be planned. Since
I want to adhere to the vaastu prinicples as far as possible for various reasons, It looks almost impossible to adhere to some of the things.

I have taken care of Vaastu at a macro level mainly

- Main door , Master bed, kitchen, living room, pooja, staircase, sump positions.
- Have also fixed the building size according to some numbers (they call it aaya in Karnatakaand by some other name elsewhere).

- But when working out various rooms, I hear from some people that the room sizes also should be selected from few numbers like 8,10, 11, 16,17, 20, 22, 24
etc(Manaiyadi sastram). But it looks impractical to fix the room sizes for all the rooms as the outer building size is also fixed.
Some people are saying that since outer dimension is fixed according to aaya number, there is no need to fix the room sizes also as per the above numbers.

Could you people (who believe in vaastu) throw some light on how you solved this issue during your planning stage.

Looking forward your opinions and Thanks in advance

-Selva

As long as the macro issues are taken care of, it suffices. Micro compliance would call for a bigger site, which in your case, i am not aware of.

PS: also make sure that there are no "arches - only rounded ones" inside/ outside the house too.

Hi take your horoscope to any astrologer and show him and build accordingly. If vastu is not proper. You will face hell lot of problems. There are not just room dimesions many things attached to it as per your and your wife's horoscope. If you are staying with anyone else .You need to show their horoscope also. One of my friend has to sell his house as he didn't listen to elders earlier.

I cannot, but only laugh at the response. This forum is scaring the poor guy off the limits. It is as good as saying, ensure that the new born is Vaastu compliant.

How about getting the horoscopes of the neighbours also verified along with the chief minister of the state??? I am sure that would also help !!

getting the would be neigbhour's vastu & compatibility checked is a better proposition I feel considering that you have to stay with them after you build your house :D

Hi Selva
My humbble request is not to go in to deep vastuu , you will end up no where.Vastuu changes from place to place ,state to state. You know tamilians prefer south facing site where as andhra its the last prefference .
Never go with 100 people, you end up builiding home for them.Ultimately you are going to live .so just built your dream home for you .
Never consult 10 people.Even after you built 100% vastuu people will comment with there half knowledge.Kepp it simple masterbedroom ,kitchen, pooja room positions are just enough for a good vastuu.I have seen many people done well in a non vastuu homes and very few doing well in vastuu homes .

Good luck

The above comment by m3_07 and the one by "ardesarchitects" were really splendid and magnificent remarks/comments, specially the one by m3_07.

America, despite their 3rd recession since 1930, after several wars with several countries, some of them being fought even now simulataneously in Iraq, Afghanistan, fighting militants in Pakistan, now having plans to attack Iran to fight another war in another front - is still the world's most powerful country, is the only Superpower and they dont even know how to spell "V - a - s - t - u".

The world's richest people, the largest number of billionaires, the highest number of millionaires, some of the greatest technologies ever invented by mankind, some of the biggest brains in the world - can all be found only in America.

As if all their houses are "Vastu" compliant - as if all of them have got their "horoscopes" checked by "Astrologers".

What a joke!!!

It is only us Indians who are blessed with a lot of "idle" time to waste on such useless things as Vastu and Horoscopes.

I neither believe in God nor in Horoscopes nor in Vastu and I have never had any problem in my life till now of any kind.

Vastu is just a money spinning industry that is growing by leaps and bounds all over Karnataka and the business is bursting at it's seams - all because of many who are naive, innocent, gullible - hence, the so called vastu specialists go laughing all the way to the bank.

Hi,
I think it is not right to make fun of people with certain beliefs. The person who has started his threads is trying to clear some doubts regarding vaastu and let him do it. After all its his house and his money. Calling followers of vaastu as people with idle time is lame and abusive.
As far as the Americans are concerned, probably you do not know. Most American buildings are built in perfect compliance with vaastu shaastra and/or feng shui. Vaastu consultants do a roaring business in USA. In any case, whether Americans follow vaastu or not, why should that be a benchmark for us to follow.
I am not an expert in vaastu nor do I have any kind of knowledge about it. But from what I gather, its an ancient Indian wisdom that was used by the then architects to build houses, buildings and infact in town planning too. It was based on the knowledge of direction of wind, its speed, sun light and its direction to derive optimum benefits out of them.
But the problem these days is, since people are ready to shell out plenty of money for vaastu consultants, there are so many fake vaastu experts who have cropped up and there only to make money. Finding the right expert is a challenge. Also like Praveen said, it better to consult on good vaastu expert instead of 10 different ones. Most architects who build houses these days are well versed with vaastu, so probably consulting an architect would be enough in most cases.
I dont know how showing horoscopes would help but then just because I dont believe in it doesn't mean I should be making fun of people who believe in it.

All,
Thank you all for taking time to respond to this thread. There is nothing right or wrong in aspects like Vaastu or God and It is more of a personal belief/choice.

Praveen and m3_7, special thanks to you for your pragmatic responses and I will follow Vaastu to the extent where I need not compromise on aspects of Ventilation, privacy, space utilization, etc.

Always give priority on your your optimum requirement. There was no vastu 7-8 years back like how real estate agents were not there in this field few decades earlier. Even that time many people were living happily and many were having personal issues. But unfortunately now it has evolved as a new profession to panic people and at the same time, it is also giving earnings for many people in the modern real estate and astrology sector. As Praveen said, no one is able to follow 100% vastu & we can't satisfy ourselves inspite of getting suggestion and helps from many minds.

I feel ridiculous, when i saw some construction which have built as per vastu principle, . Example. the common bath room entrance goes via Kitchen. Backyard Door goes via Master Bedroom, usually we leave our footwear just next to our main entrance door. Very next to the main entrance if we put the Pooja Room, what do you feel....etc

If we look at things in macro level, every costruction ideas are purely based on the availability of the directional sun light and optimum air flow which are essential for healthy living. Thats the reason nowadays people are complexing their life than what they're supposed to be. i'm just reminding you, please concentrate on your basic necessities. don't worry about the rest. Rest All factors which affects our mindset rather than relaxing it.
