Hi,
My neighbor behind my plot has built the 3-floor height wall right
upto the edge of the site. This has done for half of the width of the
plot (30 side of the 30x40) and for the other half there is a setoff.
The portion where there is just wall is adjacent to my planned
kitchen.
So I am just wondering whether I should also just abbot the
kitchen wall ? If I do I would get little more space in my
otherwise cramped kitchen.
However, I really dislike this type of abbotment as it cannot
be undone.
Can I leave just a small gap of 4-6 inches ?
What has been the member's experience in this regard ?
Thanks
sholla
Partial abbotting the wall on one side ?
Re: Partial abbotting the wall on one side ?
If you have just 4 to 6 inches gap, how will you paint and maintain that wall? This narrow space will gather dust and become a headache. Better to leave 2 feet OR use up the whole space.
Re: Partial abbotting the wall on one side ?
Is it even legal to build right upto the edge of your site? I know this was quite normal in olden days houses in Bangalore and can be seen even now in 20x30 sites but not in larger sites anymore.

Re: Partial abbotting the wall on one side ?
My neighbor's house was built in 2001. At that time this was one of
very few houses in this area. So probably no one cared.
If I use up the whole space, what I kind of issues can I look forward to ?
As per the column structure the space here is 3 feet wide.

Re: Partial abbotting the wall on one side ?
According to BDA rules, abbotting is allowed on left end corner by 1/3 of the width and length. For example if your site is 30x40 , you can build till the site end on your left end corner by10ft on width side and 13.3ft on length of site side.
Re: Partial abbotting the wall on one side ?
"left end corner" means , when you are facing the site?
Re: Partial abbotting the wall on one side ?
yes when you are facing the site.
Re: Partial abbotting the wall on one side ?
Any idea How does this work for odd sized corner plots?
